Psalms 118:8

"It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man."

"Trust" is a fine word. But the Jewish Publication Society Tanakh translation prefers the literal meaning of the Hebrew word thusly translated by the KJV: "take refuge in." (chasa)

I like that better as well. "Trust" can be two people at the same level making an exchange, two businessmen shaking hands. "Take refuge in" implies a certain level of need and humility.

Clifford! I am glad to hear from you again-- I am pleased that you like my poetry enough to visit and comment. I wrote that particular one at night in the dorms at BYU last year during Education Week...where I learned about temples and Herod and Nashon.... Going again this year (maybe get another poem!).

I have put a book of my poems on Lulu.com -- called A Book of Fours. Also have one at Pindrop Press in London coming out next summer called Pepek the Assassin (which I think is my best).

Lately I've been getting together a few of my SF short stories to do with Lulu, and some children's stuff...so I'm keeping busy.

Again, thank you for coming by!

PS I also have a couple of poems in a magazine called ouroboros review, issue 3, which you can also view online, if you want to!

Drop by my regular blog, at followingthelittlegod.blogspot.com when you get a chance. I don't blog as much as I used to, but I'd still be honored to have you visit.
